Dream Hunt Ghana is an NGO that aims to actively support Ghana’s sustainable development. Our primary focus is empowering students to become environmental advocates and providing them with opportunities to turn their dreams into reality through inclusivity and fairness. In addition to this, Dream Hunt is deeply involved in environmental advocacy for girls and early childhood development, as these are other areas of great passion and commitment for us. Our objective is to actively involve numerous schools in initiating school gardening and environmental clubs as part of our efforts. We also strive to guide and support these young individuals in shaping their careers by helping them establish their own businesses alongside their chosen professional paths.
In the previous year, our organization took the lead in implementing the IDAY School Gardening project at Asiakwa Primary and Asuom SHS, which was generously funded by IDAY International (Belgium). As part of this initiative, we also established environmental clubs within these schools. Print Logistics has been sponsoring our printing materials such as placards, banners, and letterheads for our advocacy work. Indomie Ghana has been supportive through product sponsorship for our campaigns.
Our major campaign themes include “Care for the Child,” “Youth Inclusion for
Development,” “Unique Dreams,” and “Plant a Tree on Your Birthday.”
Furthermore, we have formed affiliations with esteemed organizations such as 350 Ghana Reducing Our Carbon, IDAY Ghana (Intentional Day of the African Child), Pervita Foundation, Abibinsroma Foundation, and the Coalition of NGOs in Tema. Through these partnerships, we actively engage in volunteering and contribute to their respective projects.
To achieve our objectives, we have various activities and programs:
1. UNIQUE DREAMS: This program aims to discover and nurture the talents of young people, particularly high school and junior high school graduates. Unique Dreams provides training and skills acquisition based on their interests and talents, with the goal of empowering them to create social enterprises. The program includes a school tour, seminars by renowned speakers on talents and career guidance, and exhibitions by Dream Hunt partners.
2. WASH Program: Dream Hunt participates in a Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program, promoting environmental awareness through educational advocacy, inclusive clean-up exercises, and health screenings. Our aim is to educate society about building a sustainable and healthy environment, aligned with SDG 6.
3. CARE FOR THE CHILD: Under this platform, DreamHunt visits orphanages, hospitals, and kindergartens in rural areas to make donations, identify specific needs, and seek solutions or appropriate assistance. We also engage with children, providing them with donations and distributing the free educative magazine called “TUTOR Children’s Magazine,” which fosters the development of positive skills for national development.
4. ICT Training for Older Adult Women: Dream Hunt is working on introducing an adult educational program that offers ICT training to older adult women. The goal is to bridge the communication gap between youth in ICT and the older population.
Successes and challenges at Dream Hunt include:
– Assisting two brilliant students in pursuing university education.
– Providing free skill training in bead making and accessories, benefiting ladies through the Unique Dreams platform.
– Securing sponsorships for IT studies and skill development for participants.
– Having participants generate income from their skills alongside their university studies.
– Successful clean-up exercises that promote cleanliness.
Challenges faced by Dream Hunt include inadequate funds for training participants, lack of start-up capital or training materials, and the absence of proper documentation to acknowledge our efforts in partnership projects.
Our mission at Dream Hunt Ghana is to contribute to Ghana’s overall sustainable development and social welfare by empowering youth and promoting inclusion and equity.
